Editorial Assistant

Becca (aged 23) is the junior member of the editorial department at Constable & Robinson. She describes the process of checking the content of a book once the author and senior editor have finished working on it. She collates corrections made by copy editors, proofreaders and the authors themselves, and explains the types of error they will be watching out for. After university she worked as a receptionist for another publisher. She has learnt most of her skills in-house but was also sent on one short external course. M159
