4Teachers

Teachers love this site for two reasons;
  • careers information and advice for students to surf at their own pace at home as well as at school
  • a classroom resource to stimulate interest in subjects right across the curriculum
It’s a great resource for the final year of Key Stages 3, KS4 and onwards.

Peer-to-peer Careers Advice

For students today, the world really is their oyster and there’s no better place to discover the breadth and depth of opportunity than here on Careers4u. It is a great way to explore  what life is really like out there in the workplace. Careers4u.tv also includes a number of interviews featuring professionals working in non-stereotypical roles. Each Careers4u.tv video interview comes with Useful Links to relevant Sector Skills Councils and other organisations.  The website is designed to support teachers and careers professionals and be used in conjunction with other career resources.  ACEG have kindly provided some useful guidelines.

Bringing real life to classroom teaching

Careers4u is a great way of bringing the relevance of what you’re teaching in the classroom to real life.  Use Careers4u.tv to introduce a specific learning topic or simply to introduce students to careers relevant to your subject. Why not open a an ICT lesson with Aman explaining his exciting role as a digital marketing specialist and games designer for Panasonic Or a DT lesson on the properties of materials with this video of Liza talking about snowboard design Or a Geography lesson on urban development with Cleo talking about her role as a planning policy officer

Support Resources for Teachers

We have loads more suggestions for use of individual clips for bringing work-related learning to teaching across the curriculum in the downloadable Teacher’s Notes. For teachers of Maths, English, ICT and Business Studies we especially recommend taking a look at the Teacher’s Notes for the 28 Enjoying Work interviews.
